In Crete, like in the rest of Greece, the public transportation services are well organized and comprehensive. Buses of the regional collective known as KTEL connect the major cities as well as most rural areas of Crete.

There are also two international airports in the cities of Chania and Heraklion with regular flights to other Greek and European cities.

Crete is also well served by ferries year-round with mainland connections from Piraeus, Thessaloniki and some other islands of the Aegean.
